So, before I get to work on the latest project I’ve been assigned tonight, I wanted to get everyone up to date. I’ll break this up into a few sections.
Life
The last few days have been pretty good to me, regardless of incessant coughing and sneezing. I finally broke down this evening and bought more antihistimines to keep my allergies under control – but I have to finally admit that I must’ve caught a cold.
Over Thursday and Friday evenings I spent a lot of time with the exchange girls from Meikai. I want to make sure that they have a good time while they’re here, and I’m having a really good time myself in the process. It helps that they’re all pretty cute! lol On Friday we ended up going to the Ma,ll at Millenia and made a sudden trip to Downtown Disney, which they all really loved. Its been a long time since I walked Downtown Disney without being in a rush. I love the atmosphere there at night.
Art
I thought I’d post the photos I’ve taken of some of my artworks, I think some of you are interested. This is a full scale bust I made out of masking tape and news paper. It was pretty fun to work on. This was my first attempt into the 3-Dimensional art realm.
This second work was also pretty fun in the end, but didn’t come out exactly how I’d have liked. I’m still thinking of adding to it. It might be a better idea to start over from scratch.
I’ve got another project I’m planning to start in just a few moments – a non-representational piece using 10 dollars worth of scrap material from this store called Skycraft in Winter Park. The store was just full of raw tech – LEDs, wires and cables, lenses, silicon chips, nuts and bolts – the kind of stuff I might need for my R&D job at the Paradigm building.
Reviews!
Patapon arrived in stores this last Tuesday, and, with its toe tapping beats and locoroco vector style art, has worked its way into my heart. As soon as you start up the game, you’re introduced to the world of the patapons, much like the world of the Locos. These little creatures are desparately searching for IT, to gaze upon IT and achieve eternal contentment, but there’s a problem – they can’t do anything without the great PataPon to guide their warmarch with the sound of his drums. And they desparately need it, too, because the evil Zigotons are constantly advancing on their lands, and powerful ancestral guardian monsters protect all the tools you’ll need to survive.
The game starts you off tapping out an even four-beat drum sound, hitting the circle and square buttons on your PSP, and slowly breaks you into more complex sounds – either adding in extra buttons, or throwing in eighth notes to keep you challenged. Every time you finish the four note set, you have to pause while you’re Patapons repeat the beat and act, then you have to pick it up and tap the next command. The game rewards you for keeping a chain by adding in ‘Fever’ which psyches up your Patapons and increases their abilities. Then again, it also punishes you when you miss by ending your combo and clearing your fever. Something you may have just been crucial for winning the fight against the boss you’re up against. My other qualm is with how difficult it is to get ka-ching (your money) and other materials for birthing new patapons with stronger abilities – but then again, I am only about a tenth into the game. I suppose it should be that way.
You’ll find yourself moving your whole body to keep the beat, and chanting ‘pata pata pata pon’ in your head when you’re not playing, but… you probably won’t mind. And for 20 buck, its definitely worth a buy.
Final Note
Before I go, this is worth a link.
